{"id":9577,"date":"2021-03-23T10:10:04","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T17:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scottsdaleperf.wpengine.com\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;eventDate=2021-06-26#038;p=9571"},"modified":"2021-05-27T11:30:50","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T18:30:50","slug":"bridgman-packer-dance-2021-06-26","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/scottsdaleperformingarts.org\/event\/bridgman-packer-dance\/2021-06-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridgman | Packer Dance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Dance meets film meets virtual reality:\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ghost Factory<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0is the latest in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bridgman<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">|<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Packer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Dance\u2019s body of acclaimed and genre-breaking work that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">features their \u201cvideo partnering,\u201d the integration of live performance and video technology.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Inspired by the residents and vast deserted factories of Johnson City, an upstate New York town,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ghost<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Factory\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">is a compelling work that reveals remnants of a past era through a contemporary lens<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Live performance merges with haunting video imagery of abandoned factory buildings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">evoking\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">humanity<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">these spaces once held. With choreography and performance by the award-winning duo Art\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bridgman<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and Myrna\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Packer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, the creative team also includes filmmaker Peter Bobrow, lighting designer Frank\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">DenDanto<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0III, and composer\/sound designer Ansel Bobrow. In conjunction with the stage performance, there is an accompanying audio\/visual installation that further brings alive the stories of residents in Johnson City<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0as well as those from the Scottsdale community. The installation and the stage work<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">reveal how architecture can hold a town\u2019s human st<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ory<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0hidden within its walls.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Art Bridgman and Myrna\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Packer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, artistic directors of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bridgman|<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Packer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Dance, are Guggenheim Fellows and 2017 NY Dance and Performance Award recipients (The\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bessies<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">). Their collaborative work focuses on integrating live performance and video technology in order to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">blur the line between image and reality, explore identity, and reveal multiple layers of consciousness.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">The creation of Ghost Factory was made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a National Dance Project Finalist Grant Award, and commissioning support from the American Dance Asylum. Bridgman|Packer Dance is a 2020 NDP Finalist Grant Award recipient.
